CRASH LANDING 2

Just came back from the hospital and it seems I was initially being a bit too optimistic: there are in fact 3 broken ribs and so I'll be holed up and out of any meaningful action for around 6 weeks. Oh well, here's to free codeine and reading all those books you always wanted to have time for. Sincere thanks once again to everyone who's written.

Broken ribs? Yikes! Worst I ever had was a broken nose (from a childhood accident involving a trampoline).

I was off in Chicago for the past week, without a computer / internet access, so I've only recently gotten the bad news about the stage tumble- here's hoping you recover speedily William.

Speaking of the Windy City and tragedies, a number of record stores there have shut their doors for good, thanks to unaffordable property taxes etc.- you may have to remove the defunct Evil Clown and Weekend Records from your Susan Lawly international stores directory :( .

Anyway, yes, enjoy some good books and some opiates.

Ouch, nasty!

I always find codeine has unpleasant side effects...

Take it steady Mr. Bennett. Recover well, many of us are looking forward to seeing some Live Action in Bristol in the future. Maybe we could arrange some crash mats, or a bouncy castle or something. 'Racket' is an excellent record.

oh dear, here's hoping you don't come down with a cold anytime in the near future; if you think those ribs are painful now, don't try coughing with them! get well soon,

William,

Hope you recover quickly. Free drugs and reading sounds nice though.

If you don't already have a list of books to read during your convalescence, here's a list of four for you:

1) The Poems Of Catallus, Trans. Peter Green;
2) The Books Of The Virgins, Gabriele D'Annunzio;
3) Desert Islands And Other Texts 1953-1974, Gilles Deleuze;
4) Ovid: The Erotic Poems, Trans. Peter Green.

Warning: The poems of Ovid and Catallus can be hilarious. And I don't want you to laugh too hard during recovery.

What have you been reading?

Catullus and Ovid are indeed excellent recommendations, Steven - I remember reading them when studying Latin. Masterpieces often overlooked by many for more contemporary works of lesser quality. Will investigate your other titles.

Does this mean Whitehouse will be coming to Finland as one piece act?

Already sent you an email before I moved and hit a whole run of internet connection problems that, even now, don't appear to have left me in peace. Whatever, I hope you're recovering okay and will be in good enough shape the next time I see you. Never broken any bones myself, so the thought of the pain involved is completely alien to me. Mind you, I've now ignored a massively swollen (and slightly sore) right elbow for a few weeks and must relent to seeing a doctor. Who knows what's behind this. Take care, William. And less of the Iggy antics next time!
