MY LEAST FAVOURITE SOUNDS

Try this site out - I'm not sure if Professor Cox realises so many of his top 30 'worst' sounds have formed the basis of my, and of course many others', music.

I think the electronic drones on that site were ripped directly from some widely available sound effects library CDs which I have; so no extra points for resourcefulness there. And OF COURSE the only sound in this gallery that truly irritated me was the sound of the mobile phone ringtone....otherwise my threshold of sonic tolerance was much higher than the other voters from my region. Even that barking dog would have gotten a 'neutral' rating if it didn't sound like a human attempting to imitate a barking dog...

Great link, William! Goddamn, I hate the sounds of humans O_O

I'd have to agree with scary alice -- I found that most of the sounds I disliked were from people. The screaming babies and catarrhal cough I found particularly repellent. The more machine-based sounds, on the other hand, I simply let them play over and over. Like I'm doing now, with the power drill one!

There really needed to have been a 'quite nice' rating...

An option to download and keep your favourites would have been nice. Nothing in there that caused me any distress.
Strangely, the nails on blackboard in audio format is tolerable whereas witnessing the act makes me squirm.
